Title: Quality/Shipping & Receiving Technician

Location: Francesville, IN Production Plant

Available Shifts: 7am – 3pm Monday – Friday

Department: Manufacturing

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

Job Type: Nonexempt

Summary:

The primary function of the Quality/Shipping & Receiving Technician is to maintain warehouse and rail side materials and to ensure the quality of finished product is at the highest level according to government, industry and company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following but not limited to:

  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • General material and Pipe testing including; melt flow, density, deflection, tensile strength, elongation, carbon black, ESCR and NCLS, as well as production related tests
  • Daily Yard sampling- Rewinding of maxis from the finished product yard while checking for defects, inclusions or any other quality concerns
  • Involved in data collection and input of samples into IQMS SPC module
  • Involved in coordinating and taking internal audits of fitting and pipe samples
  • Date Code recovery from the finished product yard to ensure all proper documents are in place and organized during the production process
  • Visit the St. Anne Facility twice per week for yard spot checks and finished product inspection
  • Visit the Mt. Pleasant Facility for two days bi-monthly for yard spot checks and finished product inspection
  • Involved with the maintenance and organization of all materials in the warehouse setting
  • Receive and schedule delivery of all raw material shipments
  • Process all packing slips, invoices and paperwork that arrives with the packages, bulk trucks, railcars, skids, etc… into IQMS so all transactions can be tracked and referenced
  • Fill out all necessary paperwork (through IQMS) for all shipping protocols
  • Packing (or if already packed, verifying) that all items are sufficiently packed and stuffed to ensure their undamaged arrival to the destination
  • Work hand in hand with the plant assistant, the quality department and the maintenance department to ensure all of their shipping and receiving needs are met
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Promote team effort in helping each other. This will increase the performance levels of all in supplying a high standard of satisfactory service to the customer
  • Always promote safety first and assist in maintaining housekeeping requirements on the premises
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of FRATCO, especially products, operations, financial, customers, and personal information
  • Maintain a positive cooperation working relationship with customers, community and those persons superior or subordinate to this position, as well as peers

  • Must have strong computer aptitude
  • Must be very detailed orientated
  • Must be extremely reliable with great attendance
  • Have good judgment skills on production related calls
  • Must be Fork Truck certified
  • Must be able to work at extreme heights
  • Additional skill sets include being highly organized and be able to interact with all personnel

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with employees and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • High school diploma or GED required; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Must be able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Safety glasses must be worn in the production plant at all times for your protection
  • Cut Level 2-3 gloves must be wore when using sharp hand tools
  • Hot gloves must be worn when working with 400 degree molted materials
  • Hearing protection is required to be worn in all production areas
