A century of innovation has transformed the drainage industry but some fundamentals remain as important today as they were in 1923. When E.C. Overmyer purchased the Francesville Clay Products factory in 1923 and focused the business on drainage products, the industry looked dramatically different from what it does today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clay tile was the standard. Installation required intensive labor. Contractors worked without GPS, laser guidance, computer mapping or the specialized equipment that has become commonplace across today\u2019s job sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past century, nearly every aspect of drainage has evolved. Materials changed from clay to plastic. Installation methods became faster and more precise. Manufacturing technology advanced. Equipment grew larger, smarter and more capable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet for all the innovation that has shaped the industry, some things have remained remarkably consistent. The fundamentals that drove successful drainage projects a century ago continue to drive successful projects today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water Still Follows Gravity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the simplest truth in drainage is also the most important. No matter how sophisticated equipment becomes, water still moves according to the same natural laws that governed the first drainage systems installed generations ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
